Shaldon is a traditional, unspoilt village of the mouth of the River Teign it is situated opposite the busy port of Teignmouth. Shaldon boasts a full range of shops selling local produce including the butchers and green grocers along with a pharmacy, post office, bakers, general store and a selection of 5 pubs.
There is a small selection of schools in the vicinity with a larger variety in the nearby area of Newton Abbot. These include The Trinity School, Shaldon Primary School and Exeter Cathedral School.
Situated within a short drive of both the sea at Teignmouth with its Jurassic coastline and award winning waters to the moors at Dartmoor which can be seen on a clear day by looking upstream from Shaldon you have that choice of Town or Country on a daily basis. There are a selection of fantastic days out within easy grasp of the Teign Valley including the award winning Paignton zoo and the smaller local Shaldon Zoo to Occombe Farm offering a range of local organic produce in its shop and café as well as some fantastic family woodland walks and the much more traditional and beautiful Buckfast Abbey.
With a busy events programme offering a range of activities for all ages Shaldon offers the best of all worlds, from the relaxing games of bowls on the village green to the T.R.A.I.L exhibition of recycled art in the landscape, with the water carnival and regatta Shaldon has the versatility to appeal to all.
